Spot00250.pngExporting to Vision

MVR (My Virtual Rig) is the recommended format for export to Vision. You can export to .mvr and launch Vision automatically with the Send to Vision command, or simply export to .mvr format; see Exporting MVR files. Vectorworks files can also be exported in .esc format using the Export ESC command.

Sending a file directly to Vision

Command

Path

Send to Vision

File

Send an .mvr file to the Vision program directly, if Vision is installed.

This command uses the glTF/glb format to export to .mvr for use in Vision. If you need to support legacy workflows that export to Vision based on the 3ds format instead, the Send to Vision MVR (3ds) command is available from the Workspace Editor.

To send the current Vectorworks file to Vision:

Select the command.

The Vision program launches and opens the file. Save the file within Vision.

If Vision is installed, but no serial number or dongle is detected, Vision opens in demonstration mode with limited available universes.

If Vision is not installed, the default browser opens to the Vision product page on the Vectorworks web site.

Exporting ESC files

Command

Path

Export ESC

File > Export

A textures folder is created with the .esc file and must stay with it. Vectorworks includes the focus orientation, shutter, and gobo information for the lighting devices in the scene. Left, Right, Top, and Bottom shutter depth and angle are mapped to the appropriate shutter parameter in Vision to match the settings in Vectorworks. When a gobo is exported from a lighting device, a .jpg representation of the Vectorworks gobo texture is created for use by Vision and placed with the exported Vision file. The .jpg file is named the same as the Vectorworks gobo texture for easy identification.

Consider the benefits of Exporting MVR files instead.

To export a Vision file:

Select the command.

The ESC Export dialog box opens.

Specify the file name and destination.
